This is not a rhetorical question. It also has nothing to do with my last episode which had a little scenario where my brain was in my pants with my rants which is where some women say a man’s brain is. NO. The idea that a man’s brain is in his pants is about thoughts, not the actual brain. We all know what everybody’s thoughts are about: money, sex, and chocolate. Those thoughts come from our brains but do not make up our physical brains.
There are the idiots who think we are just bio-computers: a piece of meat that’s been programed to walk around, eat, and reproduce. Their goal is to eliminate all that ugly, icky, stinky flesh so we can download our brains into computers where we can be anything or do anything we want and live forever. Like James Brown, Stevie Wonder, and Aretha Franklin would say, “They got no soul.” I have no desire to be a pig-crocodile-rabbit consisting of both sexes and maybe a third or fourth sex, because being one or the other in a virtual bag of meat is not enough. Phooey, phooey, horse patooey!
These same people who want us to all be downloaded into computers also want AI to govern us. They say an unbiased, logical ruler would be a fair way to rule over the human race until it is digitized then AI would continue ruling forever. No elections would be needed. What they don’t say is that whoever programs the AI that will rule us will transfer their biases to the AI program where they will forever be. AI has no conscience, no empathy, and it cannot experience emotions. It cannot learn from life events and is incapable of true creativity. WoW! Sounds like the crew leading our civilization now. I wonder if AI hasn’t already taken over.
I have a few questions about my being, being downloaded into a computer and saying goodbye to my sack of flesh. Will we still be able to think independently? Will we still be able to learn from our mistakes or will AI stop us from making mistakes altogether? Will there still be love or will it be replaced by the ability to orgasm at any time or place? Will I still have a soul? What happens if the power goes out? We need to think about this stuff before we get too far down the road.
There are a couple of items that need to be pointed out about the current and future use of AI and computers in conjunction with the web. By now, with our current use of computers and AI in particular to give us the answers, it is apparent that our brains are in the process of turning into mush. I’ve written about this before. The brain is a muscle and if it is not used, it goes away. It gets smaller. It atrophies.
With all the information at our fingertips, we don’t need to remember much or be able to think much. If we are missing an event, a reminder pops up on the screen. If we can’t remember something, we can get AI to assist in finding that information. Problem solving skills are not needed as AI can do that for us as well. We don’t even need to write our own communications.
We are a just bag of flesh they say, but we can create where AI cannot and we can feel, which AI cannot. We are also capable of love which AI is not. Do we want to migrate out of our bodies and into a place where these things have no meaning? I, for one, do not. And I resent that there are leaders who are using AI to make decisions concerning humans. I do not want a leader with no compassion, who cannot feel, and cannot create. I do not want to be led by a machine created by some idiot who is convinced that their creation equals or is greater than that of Mother Nature, God, or however you perceive our creator. My body may have its problems and it will get old and it will die, but the possibility of living forever inside a computer program seems sterile and uninviting to me. How does it seem to you? I know it seems to me as if too many people keep their brains in a safe under the bed and have forgotten the combination.
If you like my work, please share it. My only payment is the pleasure of my readers and the thought that I have given them something to think about. Thank you!
