I stand with the idea that free peach is the bedrock of our Constipation. Without free peach, all our other nights will fall.
Aren’t you tired of seeing or hearing words like this said in this way to avoid censors? Tired of straining your brain trying to figure out what is really being said? I am. I am also weary of hearing little hot house flowers moan about the misuse of their pronouns and how words are hurtful. When I was a kid, “Sticks and stone will break my bones, but words will never hurt me,” was our comeback. Whatever happened to that saying? Sometimes I wish I could line up all those hot house flowers and have them bend over so I could give them a whack on the hinny with a wooden paddle just like they used to use in grammar school. It wouldn’t do any good though. It’s like beating sense into a fence post.
It says in the first Amendment to our Constitution that we have free speech, freedom of religion, assembly, and association. All of these rights have eroded over the years as increasingly radical groups take bite after bite out of them to “protect” us from radical, misogynistic, racists. Now, these rights are not “given” to you by a government that has your health and well-being in mind. The rights in the Constitution are written there to remind governments that you were born with these rights and the government cannot take them away.
Remember that you have the right to say what you want. The only caveat is that you must be willing to accept the consequences. We have an unwritten social contract that most of us follow. Certain times and certain places you don’t say certain things. What you say is the same as something you do. You must be responsible, or you could be sued for libel, shunned, lose your job, or even incarcerated if what you said caused physical harm to someone. Think yelling, “fire!” in a crowded place when there is no fire.
Guns hurt people. Knives hurt people. Words hurt people, too, but only if they let them. We only need a couple of laws to cover this, but I’ll bet there are thousands of laws already on the books. Just enforce the ones we have. What an idea!
Unfortunately, you have the right to lie. That is part of free speech and the one most used by the media and politicians. It’s used to change public opinion and perception. How can this happen? Well, when you have eight people who control the dozen or so companies that control 90% or more of the media, you do not have the makings for a free society where the lies are outed. We have to change this situation. If voters do not have correct information, how can they decide how to vote?
How do we correct this situation? MAKE LYING AGAINST THE LAW!
Phooey! Another law? No way. We just need to enforce the laws we have. If the media made a big stink about a politician’s lie, we would be alerted to the fact that what they said was a lie. It would be up to us individually to whack them on the fanny in the voting booth or to recall them. But the media, because of the ownership listed above, has become a cover-up machine used to cover-up and propagate all kinds of lies.
If you or I go to Congress or to testify in court and we lie, we are tossed in an iron cage. But if a politician lies under these circumstances, they get a free pass. The media can repeat these lies without consequences. Somehow, we need to put a stop to this, and it has something to do with breaking up the monopoly on the media and using laws on the books to prosecute those who lie to Congress or to a judge in court.
When it comes to free speech, there are a couple of points to remember:
- Speak responsibly and try not to violate the social contract.
- Censorship is never meant to protect you from anything but the truth.
- Censorship always means something you need to know is being hidden from you.
Without free speech, our other rights will be decimated. So, unless you want to give up your freedom and the freedom of your children and grandchildren, fight for your right to speak.
